I have tomorrow off. I can’t decide if I want coffee or a beer at the moment. This evening I bought “The Far Eat Suite” by Duke Ellington. His music just continues to dazzle me. I hear it for the first time & I’m filled with a desire to understand it, to find out how it does what it does. Repeat listenings cement these initial impressions. Where Ellington ends and Billy Strayhorn begins we can never know on a recording like this …
