At 12.30 I have an interview for a mobile DJ position (!) at Fig Media, up north in Edgewater. God knows how I bluffed my way into that. I’m not sure what to expect, but I think I’m well-prepared and it sounds like a cool place to work. Of course I’m still doing research interviewing for UIC but I think I could do both jobs if it was necessary. That’s a bridge to cross when I come to it …
For Christmas, Steven got me my own domain name! Wild! It sort of feels like having one’s own private island in the Carribean. http://www.randomcha.net. Right now it merely redirects you to my geocities site. Until I do something new. Doing a whole site from scratch would take lots of time and work, but would be pretty cool. Like I need one more thing to put on my to-do list. It’s real exciting though.
Saw “Cat People” yesterday at the Music Box with Steven & Leah (the 40’s original). One of the most amusing things about it is that the main cat woman character is named Irena, which is the name of Andy’s manager (the one he detests with such passion). I bet it’s easy for Andy to imagine her turning into a cat whenever she gets angry or jealous.
After the movie we ate at Sparky’s, a tiny 24-hour diner near Ashland/Belmont that Gavin swears by. It was darn good. The real deal. The owner, a small Asian woman, greeted us personally as we came in and then asked us if we would be coming back as we were leaving. Darn good french toast there.
Got the new Soft Boys album, “Nextdoorland.” Very amusing, catchy.
