This morning on the way to work I listened to “On the Beach” by Neil Young. The more I hear it, the more I love it. The first few listens, it seemed kinda insubstantial. But I changed my mind. The songs hold togther really well; solid, well-produced.

I’m so glad that it’s Friday. I just want to get some sleep this weekend. At the same time, I’m just exhilarated about the book. I’ve sold my first 4 copies! I’m shipping them out after I get off work. Then tomorrow I’m heading over to Quimby’s to give them some copies to put out. I’m gluing boxes all over the apartment. Elmer’s Wood Glue does the trick. I have to set a heavy book on top of each box while it’s drying so that it sets properly. Andy is really being patient. Not much table space left. But the first boxes all lined up and sealed with their labels on … it’s magical.

Sadly, the front label problem has still not been solved. Joey and I rigged a stop-gap solution last night which gave me about 20 labels; that should last me through the weekend. But dammit the image is still printing off-center. The seams on the label sheets cut off the drawing. I will have to work on this more. Why is file interchange so difficult? Every computer person out there knows of what I speak.

Tonight a few of Andy’s friends are having their ‘official’ housewarming (apartment actually) and I guess I’ll tag along to that. I might not last long without some sort of nap, but there won’t be time for that.

Last night Andy and I went with Gavin and Conrad to the opening of the new Neo-Futurist show “A History Of Mankind in 60 Minutes.” The set was amazing. The piece itself was almost rediculously complex, especially towards the end. The performers missed a few cues but did remarkably well. I liked bits of it, and it was certainly entertaining, but overall I thought it was kind of muddy and busy. The complexity didn’t really help it to be a better show, it was partly just ‘sound and fury.’ I spoke with Greg Allen after the show, and it occurred to me that he would never stage a show himself that was so frenetic. Even “H2O” which had complex, wordless choreography still had a purity to it that last night’s show didn’t have. I gave Greg a copy of “Music for the Knee Plays” by David Byrne on CD and he looked very pleased.

Seems like I’m chatting with/looking at a lot of new people’s livejournals. I think it’s very cool. It helps me feel connected to everything. Is that just an illusion or am I truly more in touch? It would be great if this led to more real-world friends.
