Below is a cocktail which I made for the first time this weekend. Well, I made several. Despite the seemingly-weird combo of ingredients, it tastes fabulous! Refreshing, just enough bite. It was created in the mid-40s at Shepheard’s Hotel in Cairo by Joe Scialom, the bar steward. Give it a try!
Suffering Bastard
1 jigger bourbon
1 jigger gin
juice of 1/2 lime
Angostura bitters
ginger ale
In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, gin, lime juice and a healthy dash of bitters. Shake well and strain into a collins or chimmney glass which is half full of crushed ice. Top up with the ginger ale and stir a few times. If desired, garnish with sprig of mint.
