I would very much like to write in detail about the party and my reflections on it, but I won’t have the necessary time and concentration here at work today. So maybe when I get home.

Today is Andy’s actual birthday, and I’m taking him out to dinner at Jack’s on Halsted. He wants a martini. He claims the one he had there last time was the best he’s ever had (hrmph). They DO have tasty food.

It was a wonderful weekend and over much too fast. Sigh. Pretty much all day yesterday I spent reading Walter Isaacson’s biography of Benjamin Franklin. Wonderful! It’s so great to know all the details of such a fascinating life.

Movies we saw this weekend: “The Game Is Over” (from 1966, with Jane Fonda; so-so, some interesting visuals but a pretty uninteresting plot, Andy liked it better); “Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room” (engrossing story, but the film itself was only okay; a bit gimmicky and shallow, however still worth seeing); “The Roaring Twenties” (great stuff by Cagney and Bogie and Gladys, but Priscilla Lane was stiff, the story a bit creaky, and about 15 minutes too long; still fun).

Work is slow today, with some annoying exceptions.
