East Lansing: a nice quiet college town during the summer, sleepy, laid-back, the kind of place you can pass the time agreeably while doing very little. The Amtrak was wonderful, and makes me wish I always had the time to travel by train. I finished reading “The Razor’s Edge” and was very moved, even feeling a kind of serenity at book’s end.
