Two days ago I opened up the Beatles Anthology 1 jigsaw puzzle that my Mom gave me for Christmas and took over the dining room table. I haven’t done a jigsaw puzzle since I was in junior high, probably, when I would often spend New Year’s Eve with my grandmother. One of the things we did to pass the time in the evening was working on a puzzle. Invariably they were pictures of rustic landscapes, usually involving rusted red covered bridges. We’d work on the puzzle, play long games of Monopoly and eat frozen pizzas for dinner (a great rarity in those days, growing up; I consume far many more now that I’m an ‘adult’).

Anyway I’ve been working on this Beatles puzzle and having fun. It’s an oddly relaxing activity. And it’s a great way to listen to all the new music I got last month. I just pop on a CD and work on my puzzle. Although my Talking Heads Brick hasn’t arrived yet, grr.

Andy asked me if I’m going to have it framed when I’m done. But that’s just silly. That would be like framing a completed crossword puzzle.

So, to recap, while other folks my age are playing their video games and tweaking their websites in their spare time … I’m doing jigsaw puzzles. Just call me Bob from now on.
