Trip Bits #2

Watching “The Sound of Music” with my grandmother on the large-screen community room TV in her apartment building. She was dozing through the first half but then woke up before intermission. It was about as coy as I’d anticipated (there were moments I wanted to blugeon one or more of the kids) and yet there were moments when things went a little deeper. Julie Andrews was iconic. I kept wondering what it would have been like with a young George Sanders in the Christopher Plummer role. The last thirty minutes were genuinely suspenseful, which surprised me. I love that ending: “Forgive me Mother, I have sinned.” “I have sinned too.” Weirdly satisfying.
