backburner 

worked some miracles and not only replaced the power supply in my computer but also reconfigured and stablized our home network. What a relief. Everything’s working beautifully. The sad thing though is he had a tummy ache and so we were thwarted in our attempts to provide him with either cocktail or dinner. Raincheck. I suppose there’s some larger cultural observation to be made here about our happiness being contingent upon the smooth functionality of our tech gadgets … but I’ll save that for another day.
