Here’s a copy of the fax I just sent to our rental agency:

To Whom It May Concern,

We reside at 3172 North XXXXXX Avenue, apartment # 9, in one of your units. On Monday afternoon we notified you by phone that our refrigerator was out of service and you told us that a repair person would stop by the next day (Tuesday) to fix the problem. A repair person did indeed look at the refrigerator but did not fix the refrigerator. By Wednesday, July 4 th, the temperature inside the refrigerator had reached 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Most perishables had to be thrown away because they were no longer safe for consumption.

Yesterday, Thursday July 5th, we called you twice to report that the refrigerator was still out of service and asking when it would be fixed. On the second call we were informed that a voicemail had been left with the repair person but that an estimate for when the refrigerator would be working again was not available.

Today is Friday July 6th and it has now been nearly four full days since our refrigerator has been out of service. It’s summertime and because of the heat most of our refrigerated food is now spoiled and has to be thrown out.

You have now been notified in writing. If a repair person fixes the refrigerator, we wish to be called at (773) XXX-XXXX. Should the problem continue to persist we will take further action.
