3 things about Todd Haynes’ I’M NOT THERE

I’m Not There [2007]

1. Blanchett at a typewriter while the image of a black spider on a white background dissolves in and out.
2. The pseudo-Pete Seeger character grabbing an axe to cut the power to the amps.
3. Dylan rolling around on the grass with the Beatles, then slinking off to the press conference: on one side of the frame you have Richard Lester, on the other side you have Fellini.

Andy and I went to a preview screening last night and Todd Haynes was there for a Q & A! Rosenbaum was in the audience and asked a very good question about the Riddle, Mo. subplot in the movie (wonder if he’d seen it before). The audience seemed to eat it all up. Haynes mentioned Fellini, if …., and lots and lots of Bob Dylan trivia. It’s easily a movie you could see over and over and discover new things. Not a whole lot I can think of that I didn’t like.
