3 things about Michael Haneke’s THE CASTLE

The Castle [1997]

1. The driving blades of snow caught in the beam of a flashlight.
2. The inside of the sleigh, warm, toasty, fur laprugs, a bottle of cognac. K. spilling the cognac as he jumps out of the sleigh.
3. The film ending in midsentence, mirroring the exact way that Kafka’s manuscript ends.
