The Red Balloon [1956] 

1. In the first shot of the film the little boy goes up to the cat and plays with it for a moment before he descends the stairs.
2. He climbs over the fence and on the fence is a poster for a performance (or a movie?) with Alan Ladd and Virginia Mayo.
3. The final shot reminds me so much of the way Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ends. The little boy, suspended from a raft of balloons, slowly flies away.
