Sometimes when the evening is upon us and we don’t know what else to do with ourselves, Andy and I will have what we call a Listening Session. One of us picks a track from a CD we like and plays it, then then the other person picks another track and cues it up, and so on. Alternating DJs basically. It’s always a lot of fun and we end up hearing stuff we don’t usually hear.
We did that Thursday night and I heard a track from the Georgio Moroder CD Andy bought last weekend. Fabulous. I asked him what year it was and he said, "1979." And I said I thought it sounded later than that. Andy said, "That’s because for the next four years everyone was imitating it." I played "Waiting in Vain" from a Bob Marley CD I randomly bought for $1 and it sounded fantastic in surround sound.
