Back in Colorado. Suburban Denver. Arvada. For lunch today I took my grandmother to Old Country Buffet. That’s where she wanted to go. At Old Country Buffet, it is not All-You-Can-Eat. It is All-You-Care-To-Eat. Nevertheless people everywhere were walking back to their tables with their plates piled high. If you can eat as much as you care to eat, why overload your plate? You can always go back for more. Why mingle your cantelope unpleasantly with your biscuits & gravy because you’ve piled your plate so fucking high?
This is part of what America has become, and is, at this moment in the history of the universe.
