1. The Duc relates the recipe for the eels, with great relish and in great detail.
2. She rushes out of the bedroom of the newlyweds, holding a cloth. “Just a mousy squeak,” she tells the expectant fathers. “But there’s blood.” She shows them the cloth. The two men smile at each other and shake hands.
3. He pulls some ferns out of the ground and uses them to wipe the blood off his hands.
