3 things about Andrew Davis’ STONY ISLAND

Stony Island [1978]

1. Dennis Franz as a hustling exotic fish salesman (!)
2. A muddy hardwood floor. A refrigerator with its door ripped off. The kitchen door opens onto the back stairway. He stands there and surveys the empty apartment. In a nearby corner of the kitchen, the kid noodles around on his saxophone.
3. “Chicago’s a nice city … if you want pizza.”

What a fantastic movie. And how wonderful that it’s getting a re-release.
