A new “old” project. Over the next long while (months? years?) I’ll be blogging about PAUSE OF THE CLOCK, a film I started making in college (c. 1994-1996). We shot the whole thing on 16mm. But, for various reasons, I never finished editing it. That’s always bothered me. Of course, I used to be able to pull out old excuses like, “Well, it’d be too expensive to finish,” or, “The technology is just out of my reach.” Those excuses aren’t credible anymore. I’ve decided that, technology being what it is now, there are no longer any earthly reasons for not finishing it, finally, other than sheer laziness and lack of will.
After a lot of thought and planning, it’s time to begin. The first step is to digitize the original location sound recordings, which were recorded using a Nagra 4.2. It takes good old analog 1/4″ tape. Today, using Audacity, I digitized Roll #1.
