My film PAUSE OF THE CLOCK, 20 years in the making.

My film is a living time capsule.

We shot Pause of the Clock in 1995 and 1996 in 16mm. Now it’s 2015, and after more than a year’s work, the editing of the film is nearly complete, including the addition of some wonderful music by Kill Hannah, Royale, and Steven Pate. Pause of the Clock is in the final stretch, and I’m asking for your help to get it over the finish line.

Curious why I’m unpausing the film 20 years later? Check out background on the project, as well as clips of the film, at the Kickstarter page. Thanks in advance for your support and for helping spread the word!

Picture lock.

For once, Wikipedia’s definition is best: “Picture lock is a stage in editing a film or editing a television production. It is the stage prior to online editing when all changes to the film or television program cut have been done and approved. It is then sent to subsequent stages in the process, such as online editing and audio mixing.”

Ladies and gentlemen, I have reached picture lock on Pause of the Clock.

In three days I’ll be making an important announcement about the film, so stay tuned!

3 things about Robert Altman’s A PERFECT COUPLE

A Perfect Couple [1979]

1. “I don’t think you two should be kissing while I’m suturing.”
2. A planter in the shape of a shoe. Brown suede.
3. He pops an olive into her mouth, and then waits. She spits out the pit into the palm of his hand.

I think I get this now. It’s a precursor to both Modern Romance and Punch-Drunk Love. And, like most of his stuff, a movie only Altman could make. Who else would cast Paul Dooley as a romantic lead?
