What it looks like.

The scan of the negatives is finished. The negatives were scanned at between 2K and 3K, 2400 pixels across, using what’s called a “flat pass” approach. No color correction or adjustment, simply capturing the greatest possible detail, including the grain. Below is a sample frame. Even in its raw state, this footage looks gorgeous.

a still from PAUSE OF THE CLOCK: Dylan asleep

A clear reminder of what glasses looked like in 1995!

You’ll notice the sprocket holes are visible at each corner. That’s because the scan captured every bit of the frame, allowing for greater freedom during the final editing. If I want to, I’ll be able to resize or crop the image.

Easy come, easy go.

“There were bars for cruising and bars for conversation, but in either kind of bar the restless hunt for something besides conversation gave friendships an ephemeral fluidity that alcohol rendered even looser and more transient. You could ‘know’ many people for years without knowing a single hard fact about their lives, a glimpse through the keyhole into their reality might be offered once or twice in a decade. The rest of what you knew was a compost of gossip and inference and whatever the person told you.”
