1. Two signs side by side on a fence: one for FEMA assistance and one that reads, “B Cattle Entrance.”
2. Brian is saying goodbye to some National Guardsmen: “I hope you guys don’t get sent back to Iraq. That’s not our war.”
3. The army soldier talking about why he couldn’t open the gates to the base in order to give the refugees shelter: “We had to protect the assets of the government.” The subtle wince as he speaks the words. Members of this unit later received commendations from President Bush for their handling of the situation.
