3 things about Martin Scorsese’s AFTER HOURS

After Hours [1985]

1. He slowly flips over the bill, upon which she has written, “Help! I hate this job!”
2. The fire hydrant on the corner gushes onto the empty street.
3. “Is that all there is to a circus? Is that all there is?”

3 other things.

Every time I watch this again I’m more convinced that it’s in Scorsese’s top 5. Alongside Hugo, The King of Comedy, Kundun, My Voyage to Italy.
