ROY’S WORLD co-producer Michael Glover Smith’s newest film screens in Chicago!

Three couples from Chicago vacation for a weekend at a lakeside cabin in Michigan. And a lot can happen over the course of three days …

I like to joke that Michael Glover Smith is the Robert Altman to my Alan Rudolph. In addition to (and at the same time as!) co-producing Roy’s World: Barry Gifford’s Chicago, somehow Michael also finds time to direct his own projects. I am so excited to finally have the chance to see Mercury in Retrograde, his latest, at the at the Gene Siskel Film Center: Friday, February 16 at 8:15pm, Monday, February 19 at 7:45pm and Wednesday, February 21 at 7:45pm.

He’ll be attending, along with producer/actor Shane Simmons and other members of the cast and crew, for post-screening Q&As on all three nights. But that’s not the only reason you should go. He’s had a gorgeous-looking DCP made just for this occasion. Michael adds, “The film was shot in the CinemaScope ratio with Anamorphic lenses and will probably never again look or sound as good as it does projected in its native 2K resolution in the acoustically perfect Siskel Center!” So watch the trailer below, RSVP at the Facebook page, and buy your tickets in advance!
