Color correction on ROY’S WORLD is complete!

Nicholas Coyle, who did such an amazing job on my previous film, has delivered the goods once again. Here’s an action shot of him doing his thing.

Nicholas Coyle, colorist

Since Roy’s World: Barry Gifford’s Chicago almost entirely consists of archival visuals, it was a twofold challenge. First we had to tackle a paradox: develop a consistent “feel” while somehow preserving the eclectic nature of the hundreds of different sources highlighted in the documentary. And second, we had to “touch up” every source we used, not only using “traditional” color correction techniques but also addressing the degraded, low resolution condition of many of the sources.

I’m happy to report that the end result is spectacular, and is going to look fantastic on the big (and small) screen! Stay tuned for news about our world premiere …
