3 things about Shirley Clarke’s THE CONNECTION

The Connection [1962]

1. Jackie McLean: “This cat is corroded!”
2. The series of closeups of the peeling white paint on the bathroom door.
3. Sam is in the midst of a rambling monologue. The camera titlts upward, following a cockroach as it climbs the wall. The monologue continues on the soundtrack.

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don’t blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don’t blog about, but you’d like to hear about, and I’ll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

I turned comment screening on for this post.

Kind of a weird weekend. I felt myself in a holding pattern all weekend. I got a little bit of routine writing done (Chicagoist) and did my taxes on Saturday, and we watched three movies. Andy has been sick with a cold since Friday night. In an odd sort of way it was satisfying to look after him. But I had no direction all weekend. It’s this waiting. I feel like I can’t get myself together until I know one way or the other.

OK here’s a silly question for all you techies out there. I have my DVD of commercials. How do I import a few excerpts from it onto my laptop and then post them on YouTube?
