Andy inspired me, and last night I started going through all my old VHS tapes. Specifically the stuff that I taped off TV. For the most part I don’t really care about the movies that are on there. No. I’m only looking for the commercials.
One commercial break at a time, I’m transferring them to DVD. So far most of the commercials I’ve been preserving are circa December 22, 1989 (with a few random ones from 1997). There’s some pure gold in there. Hot Pockets, cheesy toys, Teddy Grahams, Sheer Energy L’eggs. She knows how to use them. Diet Pepsi. A disturbing Wrigley ad.
So far I have two hours of ’em and I plan to keep going. If I get real ambitious I’ll post some here.
Funny how nostalgia extends especially to those things that once annoyed us the most.
