3 things about Fritz Lang’s WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS

While the City Sleeps [1956]

1. He uses peanuts to represent each of the three candidates. Then he eats them.
2. “Faithful as the day is long.”
“If it’s the shortest day of the year. But where would women like me be if it wasn’t for men like you?”
3. As the detective disappears down the stairs, the music cue indicates closure. All is well. Then the killer walks into view.
