3 things about Robert Mulligan’s INSIDE DAISY CLOVER

Inside Daisy Clover [1965]

1. Evening. Near the beach. Sitting outside at a card table with a small lamp on it. The breeze stirs the ribbon in her hair. A worried look on her face.
2. Looping breakdown. ADR booth, film loop, the screen as a prison. Near silence but for the rumbling marimbas.
3. “That’s the new lover. I didn’t get his name, but he sounds charming. Your husband never could resist a charming boy.”

It doesn’t quite work … but it really has something
